Your data and choices
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what PepperList collects, how that information is used and shared, and the controls available to you.
Last updated: August 2, 2026
1. Information we collect
We collect information you choose to provide or generate when using PepperList, including:
- Account information: your name, email address, profile image, and authentication identifiers when you sign in with Google.
- Dining content: saved restaurants, visits, dishes, ratings, notes, tags, lists, photos, and list collaboration details.
- Location information: your approximate or precise location when you allow the browser to share it for map features. You can deny or revoke this permission in your browser settings.
- Technical and usage information: device, browser, IP address, pages viewed, interactions, diagnostic data, and similar information collected through server logs and analytics technologies.
2. How we use information
We use this information to:
- Provide, operate, secure, and improve PepperList.
- Authenticate your account and keep your data associated with you.
- Display maps, restaurant details, visit history, photos, lists, and collaboration features.
- Respond to support requests and communicate important service information.
- Understand product usage, diagnose problems, and prevent abuse.
3. Sharing and visibility
Your personal dining content is private by default. If you create a public or link-accessible list, invite a collaborator, or otherwise choose to share content, the selected information becomes available to the people or public audience covered by that setting. Anyone with a share link may be able to view it, so only share links with people you trust.
We may share information with service providers that help us host the app, authenticate users, store images and data, provide maps and restaurant information, measure usage, or secure the service. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Cookies and third-party services
PepperList uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, and analytics. The service integrates with providers such as Google for sign-in, maps, place information, and analytics. Those providers may process information under their own privacy policies. You can control browser cookies and location access through your browser or device settings, although disabling essential cookies may prevent sign-in or other features from working.
5. Data retention and security
We retain information for as long as needed to provide PepperList, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and protect the service. Retention periods vary by data type and purpose. We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security.
6. Your choices and rights
You can update or delete individual visits, restaurants, photos, and lists through the app. You can also change a list's sharing settings or revoke a share link. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account information, email us at support@pepperlist.com.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and some information may be retained where legally permitted or required.
7. Children’s privacy
PepperList is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as PepperList changes. We will post the revised version here and update the date above. For privacy questions or requests, contact support@pepperlist.com.
